Summer time...

Summer time and the living is easy....... whatever happened to those days? I sometimes wonder if time is moving faster or are we just growing older and it seems so. Lots of fun happenings....

Two big events occured this spring/summer. We had three new grandsons born, bringing our total to 40 grandkids. Amy and Bryan welcomed James Nunn on April 6th. Collin Xavier arrived on May 12 to Jared and Dawn, and then Race Rockwell was born to Adam and Nichole the next day on May 13th. All the boys are healthy and cute as can be. We attempted to get a good photo of them together when Adam was here in July. "Da Boys" . They just were not interested inposing as you can see.

Horray! The end of a long drought. We had 150% of our annual rainfall by mid-June this year.

June: Chris went with Jon, April and April's mom to view the sonogram of the twins that identified their sex - a boy and a girl! Yahoo! Everybody's happy! At April's check up this week, the babies are just over 2 pounds, healthy and active. There have been lots of discussion and suggestions for names; if they have decided they aren't saying.

July: Bruce and I made a trip to Iowa for the funeral of my Uncle John. At 95 years old, he had lived a healthy, fulfilling life. We can only imagine how happy he was to be reunited with his wife and other family as he left this existence. We helped my cousin and wife, Tom and Beth, clean out his home. After picking out our treasures and memories, we still had tons of things left. With so many usable items, we had a big "Free Stuff" garage give-away set up in the backyard. It sure beat hauling it 25 miles to the Salvation Army. Friends were delighted to come pick out a "treasure" to remember him by. Many were excited to get something they could really use. The hardy corn fields offered a promise of an abundant yield this year.

The following week Emily, Josh, Jackson, and Amanda were in town getting Amanda to the airport to fly home to FL. Emily stayed a few extra days to see her brother Adam and family who came for a 10 day visit. That visit was great fun too - their six kids, ranging from 2 months to 17 yr old, enjoyed the benefits of a big city: shopping, movies, Six Flags, more shopping and movies, eating out and getting to know all their six aunts and uncles (and families) better.
